TEVTA was formed through an Ordinance (No XXIV of 1999) promulgated by Governor of the Punjab which has now been replaced by TEVTA ACT (ACT X of 2010) Punjab.
To enhance global competitiveness in Punjab, through a quality and productive workforce by developing demand driven, standardized, dynamic and integrated technical education and vocational training service.
The Apprenticeship Training program is the combination of on-the-job training and the classroom training, wherein the workers earn while learning the skills required for performing the specialized job. Generally, the Apprenticeship Training is given to produce skilled workers in 245 different trade/occupations such as mechanics, electricians, craftsmen, welders, plumbers, chefs, waiters, plumbers, HVACR technicians etc. who work under the experts of each field for a longer period. The Apprenticeship Training Program lasts for six months to three years until the worker becomes skilled enough in his field.
There are seven RDAT offices (Lahore, Gujranwala, Sailkot, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur and Multan) in all over Punjab. The main duty of these RDAT’s is to implement apprenticeship training scheme in their relevant establishments through their field officers under their jurisdiction. RDAT officers play vital role in implementation, regulating and monitoring Apprenticeship in establishments.
At the moment, there are five Government Apprentices Training Centers (Lahore, Ferozewala (KSK), Gujranwala, Sialkot and Faisalabad) are running in Punjab. In these centers, apprentices come from the different establishments on the directions of RDAT’s and take institutional training which is relevant and essential to their trades.
